Leiston’s Play Parks and Open Spaces
King Georges Avenue Park
King Georges Avenue Play Park can be found near Alde Valley High School and Leiston Primary School. This green open space gives children plenty to do, from whizzing down a zip line to playing football.
With two great play parks to choice from, no matter the age, your child can find something to play on. If they prefer to ride on two wheels instead of running and climbing, then don’t forget to bring their BMX bike and see if they can tackle our BMX Track!
Leistons Community Orchard
If you need somewhere to sit and enjoy a picnic why not head over to Leiston’s Community Orchard. Our Orchard is in the early days of its life, but includes many apple trees and memorial trees. This offers a great space for peace to enjoy the wildlife that can be found among the wild flower meadow.
It doesn’t end there, there is also a large sports field next to the Orchard where you are welcome to play your favourite sports.
We would like to thank the Galloper Wind Farm Fund for its contribution to the Nature Boards.
Perfect planting conditions on Friday 16 February 2024 meant that our small group of councillors made easy work of helping volunteers from Suffolk Essex Coast and Heaths National Landscape (formerly the AONB) plant 285 additional hedge plants which had been donated to the orchard area by the organisation. Leiston residents, Helen and Paul Taylor, kindly donated a new pear tree and we are always pleased when members of the community get involved in developing the area.
If you haven’t already visited the orchard, you can find it at the top of the sports field next to King Georges Avenue Recreation Ground.
Victory Road Park
Victory Road Park can be found on Park Hill and Victory Road. This park has lots to offer no matter your age. With a small play ground for little ones to play in and a Skate Park for those who enjoy travelling on two or four wheels. It doesn’t stop there, if you enjoy exercise then why not try out the free Outdoor Gym, whether you favour the cardio or weighs there is something there for everyone. If you prefer to take things a little slower but have a thirst for some friendly competition then why not use our Boules Piste!
This park is not only great for those on two legs but also ideal for taking our four legged friends for a walk as well. And not forgetting you can also play a spot of football.
The park also often plays host to a number of events, in the past these have included, Funfairs, Outdoor Cinema and Family Fun days, do check out our Town Diary or the Leiston Events Group page for news on any upcoming events!
Please report any damages or concerns you may have about any of the play parks to the Town Council.
