The Leiston Place Board is seeking a new chair to guide the work of the board at this exciting and crucial time in town’s history. The Board, consisting of a range of public, private and local stakeholders, was established in 2023 to guide and provide strategic oversight on activity which enhances the economy, social and community life of the town. The Sizewell C development will be a major influence on the town during the construction period and beyond and, as such, the opportunities and impacts resulting from the development feature strongly on the board’s agenda.
The Person
We are seeking a high calibre individual who can act as an independent and fair-minded chair of this proactive partnership, helping to strike a balance between the various interests that are represented around the Board table. The candidate should be able to demonstrate the following qualities:
- Knowledge of Leiston and the local area, ideally from living or working in the town
- A driving passion to see positive change take place in the town
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to manage key working relationships and to enable consensus between members
- The ability to convene individuals and groups with differing perspectives to deliver tangible improvements to the town and its residents
- Previous experience of chairing multi-sector groups is desirable but not essential
The Role
The Board meets every two months for 90 minutes. There will also be a requirement for the chair to meet with East Suffolk and Leiston Town Councils ahead of these meetings to prepare the agenda for the board meetings. The role may also involve some additional meetings with individual board members or other individuals/ groups who are not part of the board. The post of chair is an unpaid role and has a three-year term with a maximum of two terms.
