Leiston-cum-Sizewell Neighbourhood Plan

Council is currently reviewing its 2017 Neighbourhood Plan.

We welcome interest in this review.

Neighbourhood planning gives communities direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area.

Leiston-cum-Sizewell Town Council is in the process of reviewing its Neighbourhood Plan for the parish. The current Plan runs to 2029 and the review will extend the period it covers to 2040.

With the Sizewell C project now in construction it is a good time to review our existing plan to ensure it considers the impact of this nationally significant infrastructure project on the parish.  Council held an initial engagement event in February 2024 to consider if the existing key objectives in its current plan are appropriate and as a result, is working to develop greater emphasis on biodiversity across the parish.

As part of the review, we are considering the merits of making new site allocations for development.  We will be sharing the draft results of our August 2024 Call for Sites at a further drop in engagement event on 28th June 2025, 11.00-14.00 at Leiston Community Centre where members of the public can have their say.

Our current Neighbourhood Plan can be viewed and all the associated documents relating to its inception and adoption, including the examiner’s report, on the East Suffolk website at this link http://www.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/planning/neighbourhood-planning/neighbourhood-plans-in-the-area/leiston-neighbourhood-area/
